Despite Georgia's switch to the 2018 energy code on January 1st of this year, the code-update process stops for no state. The International Code Council voted on and approved the 2021 energy code earlier this year. While the 2021 code won't go into effect in Georgia anytime soon, it is still considered an energy efficiency "win" for state and local governments.
The City of Suwanee's Code Compliance Certificate includes a list of R-Values, U-factors, and other quantitative measures that must be recorded in order for a structure to be certified. Code Enforcement officers record these measures for the building envelope and mechanical systems to ensure that buildings within city limits are in full compliance with the state energy code.
