Spring 2022
Share Your Thoughts!
Are you a governmental, philanthropic, educational, nonprofit, or business professional in the Atlanta region? We want to hear your perspective on key issues that impact quality of life where you work! Please fill out this brief three-question survey about key issues in select locations in each county. We will use this data to supplement our community engagement efforts and strategies.

What We've Been Up To
Over the first three months of 2022, we've been busy conducting focus groups in seven census tracts with longevity disparities, with four more focus groups coming soon. Throughout these sessions with residents, we've learned so much from their experiences and concerns. We hope to use this data to inform future action. We've connected each of these participants with our Empowerline resources and intend to invite them to participate further, if interested.

So far, many of our focus group participants love where they live and see their neighborhood as a wonderful community. Almost universally, they have highlighted feelings of belonging, a diverse population, and highway access to commercial centers as positives. Common needs voiced from all over the region include sidewalks, streetlights, bus and shuttle transportation, access to fresh produce, and affordable housing. We look forward to continue working closely with residents and partners to ensure that their voices are heard.
Coming Up
Though we are seeing some common themes across focus groups, every county has been different. Hence, we are in the process of distilling the place-specific data we're gathering into one-page summaries for each Census tract to inform service delivery, policy changes, and funding decisions, both for Empowerline and interested partners. Please share this newsletter with your networks so that future updates are widely communicated.
We hope to supplement our focus group data, which is composed entirely of resident experiences, with perspectives from governmental, philanthropic, educational, nonprofit, and business professionals. If you haven't filled out the External Partners Survey yet, please take five minutes and contribute your thoughts. We'll be compiling information from this External Partners Survey to get a robust understanding of where Empowerline and partners can contribute to the valuable work being done in each of the focus areas.

What We're Learning From
Though we've been most focused on learning from residents of select census tracts these past few months, we're also enjoying Empowerline's blog series on Portraits of Resilience - conversations with older people throughout Atlanta about their pandemic experiences written by ARC's Aixa Pascual.
